Vintage & Lace

Derek & Christa’s recent wedding on July 23 deserves a special mention because it was just so pretty and I loved it for it’s rather unique quality & simple beauty. The wedding took place – very appropriately – in the quaint heritage church in Clayburn Village (Abbotsford, BC).
I hadn’t met Christa until about an hour before the wedding was to start, but was instantly drawn to her endearing & enthusiastic personality. Derek was equally as charming. I was also impressed at how the couple greeted their guests pre-ceremony as they entered the church.
Because Christa lives in Victoria, I met with her parents in consultation a mere 3 weeks before the big day & only corresponded with the bride-to-be through emails. But I quickly caught her floral vision after she sent me a picture of a bouquet she reeeeally loved – one that made her ‘swoon’ - as she put it. She desired a combination of just-picked-from-the-meadow wild flowers and vintage. So I set out to duplicate the image I saw of Christa’s dream bouquet, along with slightly smaller versions for the bridesmaids – Christa’s 3 lovely sisters.
The variety of colors & textures made these arrangements so unique & exceptionally appealing to the eye. I just couldn’t help myself & took more pictures of this set than most others because every shot & angle looked great. Of course I gave up on choosing only a few of them for posting {grin}, soooo here goes.

This generous medley of blooms included hydrangea, lisianthus, spray roses, asters, bachelor buttons, astrantia & wax flower. Fresh lavender & rosemary gave the bouquet a sensational aeromatic quality that Christa will always remember. Mmm, it was wonderful!

Lace bindings & pearl pins added the perfect vintage touch to the bouquets.

Lisianthus with accents of wax flower, lavender & ivy for the guys. Each groomsmen’s bout was banded with colored ribbon to coordinate with their ties.

Vintage wrapped corsages for the moms & grandmother.

Each bridesmaid bouquet was embellished with a narrow ribbon & bow to coordinate with their different colored dresses ~ chartrusse, periwinkle blue & light pink. I just love the little things!

The old school house across the street from the church was the setting for the reception – so fitting for the bride & groom who are both teachers. All the tables were covered with lace and these centerpieces, banded with lace & ribbons, and filled to overflowing with hydrangeas, wax flower & ivy were the finishing touch to a room that looked so inviting and oh so vintage!

Wishing Christa & Derek the happiest of happy in their marriage!
