Spring Fling

Awesome looking couple!
My 2010 wedding season kicked into high gear with Corne & Angela’s ‘Spring fling’ at Whonnock Lake Center – a facility neatly tucked in the woods & a place I love because of it’s picturesque & peaceful surroundings. Also, the large indoor space is bright & inviting with it’s sky light & expanse of windows at the far end of the room that provides a glimpse of the lake through a stand of tall cedar trees.
This bright, spacious room at the venue was the setting for the ceremony & reception. The pillars at the ‘alter’ end of the isle were two of the fabulous pieces designed by a friend of the couple.
One of the alter arrangements. Wow!
When I arrived at the venue to place my centerpieces, I was greeted with a floral feast for the eyes. I counted ten exceptionally unique arrangements throughout the room, each one designed by a family friend as a gift to the couple. How ‘wow’ – and how incredibly generous!! I oooed & aaaed over each piece, while taking mental notes & pictures (of course!!) for future ‘reference’.
Unique creativity – compliments to the other designer.

Angela’s floral vision was clearly Spring-inspired & demonstrated her good eye for design. She had very specific ideas of what she wanted for the bouquets & centerpieces, & it was my pleasure to turn her wishes into reality. I also thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to stretch my creative skills with this event.
Two different design styles created interest & variety for the table decor.

This design was oh, soooo Spring with freesia, tulips & muscari filled vases.

While these babies were packed with bright shades of alstroemerias, gerbers & anemones. Ti leaves lined the vases & bear grass with ‘brush cuts’ gave them a funky flare.

I did, however, hit a ‘bump in the road’ part way through the task when I realized I was running out of tulips fast. It was late Friday afternoon, so I kinda panicked! But I thank the good Lord for a solution that turned out even better than expected. Not only did I secure the tulips I still needed, but several of the blooms were the most gorgeous doubles ever – and the perfect bonus destined for Angela’s bouquet!
Angela’s stunning one-of-a-kind handtie with those fabulous white double tulips among a mix of freesia, alstro, gerbers & muscari, & lily grass - all collared by ‘ribbons’ of ti leaves.

Kudos to the professional photographer – whoever he or she is – for the beautiful images of a very special day!

I stopped first at the home of Angela’s parents to bring the bouquets so the gals could have a photo shoot with their pretty blooms. What great memories!
