A Perfect Day

Bride’s cascade bouquet of mango callas, white callas, alstroemeria & ferns
Our 2008 wedding season began with more great couples to design for and venues to deliver to. Those who planned outdoor events in May were blessed with perfect weather, which is a bonus at any time!
One wedding in particular that I remember fondly from that Spring was Steve & Carlisa Smith’s. They were such a delight, and the venue they chose for their event on May 17th is a gorgeous spot tucked away in a residential area of Langley Township. Situated on the edge of a small lake, Willow Place is a privately owned property with oh so natural surroundings. When hubby & I arrived there the morning of the big day, we sure didn’t expect to find such scenic & spacious beauty upon entering the back yard. What a gem!

’Bouting’ the groom
While the temperature outside was warming up comfortably, hubby helped me locate the folks that were to be ‘flowered up’. I recall discreetly snipping a couple of small blooms out of the bride’s bouquet to quickly fashion a ‘last minute’ boutonniere for the groom’s father who was originally not expected to attend. It was great that he was able to be there after all! And then one of the groomsman ‘broke’ the flower in his boutonniere and sheepishly asked me to ‘fix it’. Unfortunately I had left my ‘toolbox’ at home so had to be creative & somehow ‘stuck it’ together with pins alone. The young man seemed quite relieved, and on with the show!

An elegant bride!
